They convert slowly varying input signals into clearly defined, jitter-free output signals. Additionally, their noise margins are better than conventional inverters. The MC74AC14/74ACT14 has hysteresis (typically 1.0V) between the positive-going and negative-going input thresholds, which is determined internally by the transistor ratio and is essentially insensitive to temperature and supply voltage variations.
